Sometimes, it's hard to find balance. It's too easy to shut the world off, pretend like things aren't there. Responsibilities, problems or situations that easily bop you ''out of the loop".

It can be too easy to focus only on the details, or the big picture, but not both at the same time. And you might even "escape" in order to deal with it.

When you don't have balance though- between the big picture and the details- it can negatively impact you, your family, your friends, and anyone else that you come into contact with, and you might not even realize it. In my experience at least, it seems like it's especially when the big picture/details thing is something that is a big part of your life. Perhaps, like your family or your job.

You see- when we lose sight of the big picture- we may not be able to see where we are going.  We lose sight of the "vision", and the "why" of what we're doing. We aren't able to see things as a whole.

If we focus on the details, it can be the opposite. We get so lost in the details, in the little things that pop up that it can be hard to see past them all. To see past them and onto the bigger picture of where we want to be, or what we want as the end result to whatever it is we are focused on.

We need balance. We all need balance between the big picture and the details and that balance may change from day-to-day and from situation-to-situation.

In Brain Gym® we talk about this type of balance- between the big picture and the details, by referring to the physical aspect of it, and how it relates to the physical movement in our bodies. We explore how our bodies are able to move forward (onto the balls of our feet) and then back (onto our heels). Brain Gym calls this the Focus (or Comprehension) Dimension.

It's about being able to move forward- to pay attention to the details- as well as pull back- to see the big picture. Ideally, we want to be able to move through this dimension (AKA the (Front/Back or Participation Midline) smoothly and with ease. We want to be able to find a balance between the two so that we can pay attention to details and see the big picture.

But here's the thing. Sometimes, as I mentioned above- we get stuck. We get lost in the details, or we get lost in the big picture and we may not even realize it. We go from day-to-day, living our life, doing the best we can in each moment and may not realize what effect that lack of balance is having on all that are close to us, nor the effect that it's having on us, ourselves.

When you first learn Brain Gym- like in the Brain Gym 101 class, you learn about how this "stuckness" can show up in our physical movement. You also learn about two other dimensions, and how they relate to our emotions and body movement- as well as a whole host of other things!

But here's the best part- you also learn about what to do when the balance is off. You learn the 26 Brain Gym movements, how to "notice" and a five step process that can help you, your family (and anyone else you choose to use Brain Gym with!) how to regain that balance- in life, day-to-day. And when you work to regain balance in life, you also work to regain balance in the body- it's all connected you see.

We all do it, from time to time. We all lose sight of the big picture. Or, we lose sight of the details. And that's ok. But we don't want to get stuck there. We need balance.

Think about yourself for a minute. Are you stuck? Do you have balance between the big picture and the details? Are you "escaping" something because you may be lacking balance?

If the answer is yes to any of those questions, maybe you might want to check out Brain Gym. Brain Fit Academy offers adult classes where you can regain your balance and learn the tools to help yourself and others. Perhaps..start with the Brain Gym 101 class?

I think you'll like the classes. Really, I do.

Regain your balance. You, and all those around you will thank you. I'm sure of it.
