This is Me
Remember that saying- "The man behind the mask" ? Of course, with Covid-19 that has probably taken on a whole new meaning for all of us. But anyway- I've been thinking about that saying a lot since I started the facebook page for Brain FUNdamentals.
You see- those of you who know me, know the "woman behind the mask"- the person posting on the facebook page- is really me....Amy.
But for new followers (and those still to come) they may want to know who I am. Know- me.
So here I go. Let me introduce myself. This is me.
My name is Amy Brewis. I am a former elementary school teacher of almost 20 years. I knew I wanted to be a teacher from the time I started watching "Little House on the Prairie" and was wearing braids just like Laura Ingalls Wilder. I have spent time teaching preschool, 2nd grade and 4th grade. I also taught technology to 2nd & 3rd graders, and then later, 4th & 5th graders.
I am a wife and a mother. I am a mother to two teenage boys- one neurotypical, and one on the autism spectrum. I've learned a lot from being a wife and mother, and I've learned even more from being a parent of a special needs child; most especially- patience, perseverance and strength.
I am the former Lead Coach and Educator for Brain Fit Academy Inc. Brain Fit is where I learned about Primitive Reflex Integration and is where I started my current life journey. Seeking help for my son is what brought me to Brain Fit and the story unfolded from there.
I am a licensed Brain Gym® Instructor/Consultant. I first learned about Brain Gym when I was teaching 2nd grade and was re-introduced to it when my son was attending the program through Brain Fit Academy. I continued the extensive training on my own and was proud to earn the full licensure last year.
I am the owner of Brain FUNdamentals LLC. I started this company because I believe in, and am passionate about, the work that I do. When "My Cheese got Moved", I needed to make a decision as to how I was going to handle the change in my life. I chose to go back out into the proverbial maze and create my own cheese- my own business.
I specialize in Primitive Reflex Integration. It's not Rocket Science, but is very powerful and makes lasting changes where other therapies may not. When I first learned about reflex integration- it was eye-opening. And now- I see that same reaction in those that I teach it to.
I am still a teacher. I just teach in a different way. Now, I teach teachers. I also teach occupational therapists, and physical therapists, and other professionals. I teach them about Brain Gym and I teach them about reflex integration. I teach them about stress and its reaction on the brain & body and I teach them about ways to bring about positive change.
