I Envy You

In this post, I speak for me (both from the past and in the present) but I also speak for others with whom this resonates. Often, it seems like the only people who understand what having a child with special needs is like- are those who also have a child with special needs.

I see you. I hear you. I'm on the journey along side you.

I Envy You

I envy you...

The parents with completely typical children.

I envy you...

The mom whose most important complaint is having to do the car pool- again.

I envy you...

The family that can eat out wherever and whenever they want because food isn't an issue for their children.

I envy you...

The friends that can take a vacation at the drop of a hat without much planning needed.

I envy you...

The dad that can go out with his friends and not worry that he's putting too much of a burden on his spouse.

I envy you...

The parents that never have to fight with teachers in an IEP meeting.

I envy you...

The sibling that doesn't need to worry about his brother or sister being "different".

I envy you...

The moms and dads that don't need to watch their children carefully at a party or in a crowded area- not only as a toddler, but as a 6, 7, 8 yr old- or even older.

I envy you...

The parent that has never asked the Universe "WHY ME?"

I envy you...

The parents that (generally) only need to take their children to a doctor once a year for a checkup.

I envy you...

The on-lookers that ask, and wonder, and may even sympathize- but don't "get it".

I envy you...

The parents that never had to grieve what they thought their child's life would be like.

I envy you...

I envy you...

I envy you...
