Welcome to the Brain FUNdamentals Blog!
I began this blog in May 2020 while working as the Lead Coach and Educator at Brain Fit Academy Inc. Today, I’m excited to continue sharing my insights and experiences—only now, I’m writing from the perspective of my own company, Brain FUNdamentals LLC! While the name has changed, my passion for this work remains the same!

You Can't Reason With Fear
You can't reason with fear.
Fear doesn't care that it appears mean when it throw objects at people.
Fear doesn't know that calling names is disrespectful.
Fear doesn't understand when you tell it that it's not okay to destroy other people's belongings.
Fear is FEAR!

Safety
"I feel safe in here", stated my 8 year old client.
She had just finished wrapping herself up in blankets and sheets that were in the space where we were working.

Mothers
If you are in the United States, then you will know that today is Mother's Day. It's a day to honor mothers and all that they do for their families and their children.

Trust
Vulnerability is a raw emotion. And trust is a needed emotion.

Hold Space
One of the guiding principles at Brain Fit Academy is to "notice without worry or judgment". In the post titled "Notice" I talked about why noticing is an integral part of what we do and different ways that we help kids to "notice".

Safe
I think most of us most likely take for granted that (generally) we feel safe. Right? I mean it was probably pretty obvious when the pandemic hit and suddenly we had reasons to not feel safe.
Safety
It doesn’t really matter who you are, young or old, kid, adult, or teen. We all want (and deserve) and sense of safety. And I’m not just talking about safety as in feeling safe from physical dangers. I’m also talking about the sense of safety that comes from feeling emotionally safe.
Meet Them Where They Are
I climbed into the back seat of his mother's car the best I could. He had just arrived home from school and it was time for our session, but this nine-year-old boy was in complete "freeze" mode and wouldn't come out of the car.

Connection
There's a one-on-one connection with my clients that I think is very special. As I've mentioned before, I've worked with children most of my life in some capacity or another but this type of connection is different.
