Welcome to the Brain FUNdamentals Blog!
I began this blog in May 2020 while working as the Lead Coach and Educator at Brain Fit Academy Inc. Today, I’m excited to continue sharing my insights and experiences—only now, I’m writing from the perspective of my own company, Brain FUNdamentals LLC! While the name has changed, my passion for this work remains the same!

Sense of Self
When you think about the phrase "sense of self", what image does that conjure up for you? Maybe you think about yourself, and what your place is in the world. Maybe you think about your child and about how they see themselves. Or maybe you're like me and think of someone going off to "find themselves".

Trust
Vulnerability is a raw emotion. And trust is a needed emotion.

The Screening
"Boy, you really understand our son/daughter!" This is a phrase we hear a lot from parents that come to Brain Fit Academy. Very often, we hear words like that during (or after) the screening.

Sometimes
Being a mom of a child with special needs, or a child that struggles, is hard. Now, I'm not discounting dads, but today the focus is on moms.

The Only Thing
"It's the only thing that's helped." These are the words of the mother of my six year old client.

Acceptance
Acceptance is hard. The hardest.

I'm Done
I believe the official name is "Pandemic Fatigue". Eleven months into this COVID-19 pandemic and I am done with it. I am tired of the constant myriad of changes. I am tired of not being able to take my kids out places. I am tired of wearing a mask (although I still do!). I am tired of there being sadness and grief for so many.

Tune Up
Need a tune up?- and no, I'm not talking about the car type of tune up. I'm talking about a Brain Fit tune up.
I Get It
I get it. I understand what it's like to have a child who struggles in school and in life. I get it.

The (Last) Day
I don't want to see my Brain Fit clients for forever. That's right- I want there to be a "last day". I want my clients to get to a point where they are ready to stop seeing me, to stop participating in Brain Fit.

There’s Someplace Else
I have never been a fly on a wall when one parent has referred Brain Fit to another, but I imagine the conversation might start something like this...

Connection
There's a one-on-one connection with my clients that I think is very special. As I've mentioned before, I've worked with children most of my life in some capacity or another but this type of connection is different.
Isn’t Everything Supposed to Go Right?
Isn't everything supposed to go right? I mean, not everything goes right- I get that. And I know that life is full of ups and downs.
