Welcome to the Brain FUNdamentals Blog!
I began this blog in May 2020 while working as the Lead Coach and Educator at Brain Fit Academy Inc. Today, I’m excited to continue sharing my insights and experiences—only now, I’m writing from the perspective of my own company, Brain FUNdamentals LLC! While the name has changed, my passion for this work remains the same!

Vocabulary
I love that at Brain Fit Academy, we use simplified vocabulary when we teach our clients concepts. Be they kids, teens, or adults, we have language that helps us to explain things in a way they can understand.

I'm Ready
I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. From the time when I was about eight or nine years old and (faithfully) watched "Little House on the Prairie". Laura Ingalls Wilder was a teacher and I wanted to be a teacher just like her. In fact, I wanted to do a lot of things that Laura could do. I even wore my hair in long braids just like Laura, for- I don't know- years?!?

Fear Plays Tricks
Fear does interesting things to us.

I'm Done
I believe the official name is "Pandemic Fatigue". Eleven months into this COVID-19 pandemic and I am done with it. I am tired of the constant myriad of changes. I am tired of not being able to take my kids out places. I am tired of wearing a mask (although I still do!). I am tired of there being sadness and grief for so many.

Crossroads
We build our life path by following roads. We make choices, and we follow roads that lead us to this or that. We follow the road, the path that we are on, and seemingly know which way it will lead. Sometimes, we may look back to where we came from- behind us down the path that holds our footprints.

Pride
Those of you who know me well will know that I'm an "achiever". Some may even call me an over-achiever.

Number 71
On December 20th, I posted my 70th blog post. That's right. Seven. Zero.

Looking Ahead
I think it would be safe to say that most of us start a new year with anticipation of what is ahead. It may be thoughts on how we want to start healthier habits, or maybe we have plans to begin a new hobby or to work on self-care.

Resilience
Resilience. It seems to be one of the many buzz words going around these days- but what does that really mean?

I Hear and I Forget
You've probably heard the famous saying above. If you're a teacher, it might have even been part of your teacher training. It's one that always stuck with me as a teacher, and it sticks with me even more in my job at Brain Fit Academy.

Thankful
In this crazy year of 2020, amidst a pandemic that threw the world into chaos, I am thinking about tomorrow's Thanksgiving Day and all that I am thankful for in regards to Brain Fit Academy.

Out of the Loop
Worried. Confused. Overwhelmed. Frustrated. Angry.
Ever feel any of these feelings? Yup, me too.
Ever feel any of these feelings all at the same time?? Yup, same here.
What about your child- have they ever felt these feelings all at the same time?!?
I Get It
I get it. I understand what it's like to have a child who struggles in school and in life. I get it.
My Why
I want to help kids and families be happier.
I'm going to say that again. I want to help kids and families be happier.
I Want to Shout it From the Rooftops
Have you ever believed in something so much that you just wanted to tell everyone you knew about it?
Beauty
I’m sitting in front of a beautiful lake, eating my lunch between appointments and I’m thinking about beauty. There is such a wonderful amount of beauty in this world. In the sky, in the mountains, in the lakes and oceans, and rivers.

Toys
I can't put groceries into the trunk of my car. When I go to the store, I have to pile all the bags into the back seat or on the floor. Sometimes, if the "Big Green Ball" is on the backseat then I don't even have half of the seat space for groceries.

The (Last) Day
I don't want to see my Brain Fit clients for forever. That's right- I want there to be a "last day". I want my clients to get to a point where they are ready to stop seeing me, to stop participating in Brain Fit.
Everyone is so Different
"Are the challenges similar, among the kids at Brain Fit?" a family member recently asked me.

You Can Change the Story
We all have a story.
The story of our life.
It begins and ends with us.
It takes twists and turns based on choices we make.
