Welcome to the Brain FUNdamentals Blog!
I began this blog in May 2020 while working as the Lead Coach and Educator at Brain Fit Academy Inc. Today, I’m excited to continue sharing my insights and experiences—only now, I’m writing from the perspective of my own company, Brain FUNdamentals LLC! While the name has changed, my passion for this work remains the same!

Reflections From Oregon
I’m currently in Portland, Oregon.
Today will be day three of a 3-day training in Rhythmic Movements.
I also have a very painful, injured knee.
As I awoke this morning, I began to reflect on my experiences of the class so far. Those reflections took me to the “qualities of exact movements” that our instructor (Moira Dempsey from Rhythmic Movement Training International*) taught us.

Magic
Sometimes it feels like magic- this work of ours at Brain Fit Academy.
This little six year old girl had had a rough morning. It was now afternoon and when she arrived with her mother for her session, she didn't want to come out of the car.

Rhythm
Humans are designed to have rhythm. Nature (in all its glory) is full of rhythm and patterns and beautiful chaos. So are our human bodies and brains.

Patterns
Patterns are all around us. They are in nature, they are in our bodies (like the motor patterns of the primitive reflexes) and they are in our behavior.

Thankful
In this crazy year of 2020, amidst a pandemic that threw the world into chaos, I am thinking about tomorrow's Thanksgiving Day and all that I am thankful for in regards to Brain Fit Academy.
They Start to Ask
I love it when a parent tells me that their child has started to ask for some of the movements. During my sessions with kids through Brain Fit Academy (since we are a movement based program) we do a lot of different movements. Some of these movements are ones that my clients really enjoy and feel good to their bodies.
Behaviors are Communication
I didn't listen to him. I didn't listen to his words that is.

Sometimes You Just Get Stuck
Sometimes, you can just get "stuck". Emotionally stuck. It may be for a day, a few weeks, or even for years. But just- stuck.
